The Mission of Toastmasters International
Toastmasters International is the leading movement devoted to making effective oral communication a worldwide reality.
Through its member clubs, Toastmasters International helps men and women learn the arts of speaking, listening and thinking – vital skills that promote self- actualization, enhance leadership potential, foster human understanding, and contribute to the betterment of mankind.
It is basic to this mission that Toastmasters International continually expand its worldwide network of clubs, thereby offering ever-greater numbers of people the opportunity to benefit from its programs.
The Mission of the Club
The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.
The Mission of Heights Toastmasters
We, at Heights Toastmasters, honor, encourage, and respect the right of individuals to engage in creative, imaginative responses to Table Topics as well as to compose and organize lively, interesting, and engaging speeches in pursuit of the CC and AC. Because we are such a diverse club, it is the personal responsibility of all members to observe rules of social etiquette when deciding to speak to the group in any context. These rules include being sensitive to the feelings of others with respect to race, nationality and ethnicity, gender, and religion.
Moreover, we must seek to use good judgement when deciding whether or not to refer to sensitive personal issues that may cause discomfort to those who might be in the some way connected to them. If we are unsure of our judgement in raising provocative ussues, then we should check with a board member before we decide to speak.
